HealthMarkets in the Community

At HealthMarkets we work every day to provide Americans with insurance solutions to help safeguard their physical and financial health. Supporting healthy and vibrant communities is an important part of this commitment.

The HealthMarkets family—our employees, our agents and our companies — work together to provide financial and people power to help strengthen the communities where we live and work. We do this through an integrated program of charitable giving and volunteering.

We organize our giving in three primary areas and proudly support a number of organizations within each.

Health & Wellness Programs

As a company in the health industry, programs that support health and wellness are especially close to our hearts.

American Cancer Society’s JPS Center for Cancer Care in Fort Worth.

As patient advocates, this program provides those in need with transportation and lodging assistance, finding services for uninsured patients, providing cancer information, and connecting patients to the American Cancer Society or community resources and services.

Susan G. Komen Greater Fort Worth and the Race for the Cure®.

HealthMarkets has been a supporter of the local Susan G. Komen efforts to provide low‐cost mammograms, medical treatment and breast cancer detection, prevention, education and information for a number of years. Additionally, HealthMarkets employees have joined together as a team in the Race for the Cure events since 2006.

Carter BloodCare.

Since 1991 our employees have been rolling up their sleeves for quarterly blood drives held at our corporate campus. Since each donation can save three lives, over the years our employee contributions have helped to save more than ten thousand lives.

Children’s Programs

The health and happiness of children is an important focus of HealthMarkets’ charitable efforts.
We are proud to support a number of child focused programs such as:

SaveHaven of Tarrant County’s SafePlay

SaveHaven provides comprehensive services to children in their shelters specifically geared towards saving children from further emotional or physical harm due to domestic violence and minimizing the negative impact of past domestic violence experiences.

U.S. Marine Reserve Toys for Tots

Their mission to bring the joy of Christmas to less fortunate children has been a cornerstone of HealthMarkets’ employee giving activities since 1986. Throughout the years this program has continued to grow resulting in more than $1.4 million in toys and monetary contributions to support this cause.

Community Programs

Stronger communities are better informed and educated with greater access to information.
We are proud to help strengthen the communities in which we live and work.

United Way of Tarrant County

Working with the United Way, HealthMarkets’ supports BridgesWork, Inc. and their summer reading literacy intervention initiative.

Trinity Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to providing financial support, our employees roll up their sleeves for annual Preserve a Home projects.
